Tight on money

It’s certainly frustrating when you live extremely far away from your relatives and all of the responsibility for going to see is sited on your shoulders, and i currently live various states away from our family, and not a single a single of them has ever come to visit me.

  • They all expect myself and others to hop and a train, plane, car and get our butt up to their neck of the woods whenever they send out the bat signal… Obviously, this is extremely inadequate and not something I can fulfill, but what’s worse, is whenever I arrive up north, our family acts as if they didn’t think I was coming, and my mom treats myself and others as though I have been residing in her home for the last 10 years and driving her nuts, and last time, she refused to even let myself and others adjust the heating and cooling settings in her house to compensate for the vastly different temperature in her area.

I live in the south, where the air is consistently hot and humid. We don’t have a real Winter and I barely use our heating system. When I got up north, the air temperature was 20 degrees. There was blowing snow and disappointing wind that cut through all of our layers. I got to our mom’s house, and only wanted to rest in front of a hot heating vent to thaw. Instead, she told myself and others that she had her Heating, Ventilation & A/C program on a strict energy-efficiency setting and there was no way she was pumping up the indoor air temperature. I begged her for an hour to please help myself and others because I was covered in Goosebumps and shaking in our boots, however, she was unwilling to budge on her energy usage or thermostat settings. In the end, I said so long to our family and stayed the month in a hotel.
