I wasn’t perfect just the way I was, physical fitness helped me.

In high school, I was one of the kids who got picked on.

The popular kids and the athletes used to mess with me, until I fell in with a crew of other outsiders.

We were a real oddball collection of freaks and geeks, but at least we had numbers, so the other kids left us alone more or less. As a part of this crew, we were always accepting of one another no matter what. Our motto was “you’re perfect just the way you are” like the song. I was glad to have such a support system, but in truth I wasn’t perfect and needed to improve my physical fitness and start eating right and exercising. I find it very hard to discuss with people, because I love the philosophy of positivity behind the sentiment of being beautiful how you are, but it can also be an excuse to avoid exercise. Physical fitness is not about looks, if you ask me, it’s about making your body as healthy and long lasting as possible. You can’t hide behind the sentiment of “I want born this way” for very long, because by not exercising and avoiding proper nutrition, you are hurting no one but yourself. You owe it to yourself to get into shape, even if you don’t go to a gym or hire a personal trainer. Just go on a walk, eat more veggies, maybe visit a health center once in a while. Health and wellness is a choice you make every day, so get more exercise and extend your life!
