I never certainly understood my father until I became an adult

When my father would be back home, he always wanted the temperature control at 70 degrees which I always thought was too hot

I’ve always had a pretty strict father, and he was in the military for 26 years, so it’s not something that is necessarily surprising. That is the style of discipline that you learn in the military. I have to admit, my father was gone for long periods of time because he would be on a tour of duty every so often, however while he was out there doing his service for our country, I was at home with my mother having the time of my life. I didn’t have my strict father around for those periods of time telling myself and others to eat my vegetables, clean my room, or not to mess with the temperature control. I certainly loved decreasing the temperature control to my preferred temperature control settings. My mother didn’t even mind either because he thought I had a great handle on what the temperature control settings should be like, he did get on myself and others for cleaning my room though and eating my even-handed share of healthy food he would have prepared. If I didn’t listen to her, all he had to say was that he was going to call my father and that would get myself and others in line real fast. When my father would be back home, he always wanted the temperature control at 70 degrees which I always thought was too hot. He said that every one of us should never waste electricity when every one of us didn’t have to even though the military covered the costs of our utilities. I never could understand what the big deal was but he was always saying it was disappointing for the planet. These days as an adult, I understand what he was talking about.
