I never particularly understood our father until I became an adult

I’ve consistently had a pretty strict father, then he was in the military for 26 years, so it’s not something that is necessarily surprising.

That is the type of discipline that you learn in the military.

I have to admit, our father was gone for long periods of time because he would be on a tour of duty every so often, and while he was out there doing his repair for our country, I was at beach home with our mother having the time of our life. I didn’t have our strict father around for those periods of time telling myself and others to eat our vegetables, scrub our room, or not to mess with the control unit. I particularly enjoyed increasing the control component to our number one temperature control settings. My mother didn’t even mind either because she thought I had a good handle on what the temperature control settings should be like, then she did get on myself and others for cleaning our room though plus eating our honorableshare of healthy food she would have prepared. If I didn’t listen to her, all she had to say was that she was going to call our father plus that would get myself and others in line real fast. When our father would be back home, he consistently wanted the control component at 69 degrees which I consistently thought was too hot. He said that all of us should never waste electricity when all of us didn’t have to even though the military covered the costs of our utilities. I never could understand what the big deal was however he was consistently saying it was bad for the planet. These days as an adult, I understand what he was talking about.
