When I took my family to the zoo last, we had a pretty good time.
I remember asking my children if they could be an animal, what would they be.
They came up with some really great answers and I remember my youngest son said he would like to be a monkey. The reason why that answer sticks out to me is because he changed his mind at a later time. This was when we were looking at the monkeys and the place was severely overheated. My son liked watching them at first, but then he realized a few things that bothered him. He said he wouldn’t want to be any of these animals if he had to be locked up. He asked me why they couldn’t be free in their own homes. He also said they must be terribly uncomfortable without a cooling system. I realized he was right, they couldn’t just adjust the temperature control settings and have the air conditioning kick on. I didn’t even know if they had any kind of access to a cooling system but I doubted it. I was reading about their habitat though, and they were from the tropical rain forest so they probably preferred the heat. I talked to my son about that and how they were used to a very warm environment, but he said he still wouldn’t want to be locked up in a confined space like that. My son is very smart and I think with that kind of mindset, he will do well in life and keep himself from ever being locked up in a jail or prison.
