Gas and electric fireplaces can simulate real ones for the winter holidays

As sad as it may sound, one of the things I miss the most about spending winters up north is the ambient quality of having a fire burning in the house

When I was applying for college, I didn’t expect to leave my cold climate of my home state for a school a thousand miles down south in a place with 80 degree winters. For the longest time, I wanted to go to this particular college here in my home state. But, since this school prioritizes out of state students, I was put on a waiting list for acceptance. After finding out how much harder it would have been simply getting financial assistance if I was lucky to get a spot, I stopped feeling as glum about the whole experience. And then when I arrived and saw the ocean for the first time ever, I felt like I had landed in heaven. Even though my new climate was considerably warmer than my old one, I adjusted in a matter of weeks. I distinctly remember how I would return home for winter, spring, and summer breaks and would feel climate shock when being thrust back into colder weather again. By the time I was graduating, I only looked for jobs near my undergraduate school. As sad as it may sound, one of the things I miss the most about spending winters up north is the ambient quality of having a fire burning in the house. Even if they’re not used solely for heating purposes, there’s something that is hard to explain regarding the warmth and relaxing vibe that emanates off a burning log as it glows bright orange behind a thin layer of protective glass. Luckily, I found an electric space heater that simulates the look and ambient quality of a real fireplace while circumnavigating the need to ever combust wood of any sort. Plus, my particular unit came with a remote control and a sleep timer, which makes my life indescribably easier.
