I would never want to be an HVAC technician.
While HVAC technicians definitely make more money than I do, but they also have a definitively worse job than I have. The HVAC technicians have to work very long hours, and the HVAC technicians often have to on-call every night in case there is a problem with someone’s heating system in the middle of the night. I work for the HVAC company, but my hours are much more regular, and my job for the HVAC company is definitely a lot easier. I am the person that you talk to when your HVAC units stop working. We understand that HVAC problems can cause you to panic, and it is my first job to be there for you when you have an issue with HVAC units. I am also the person that you have to go through to make sure that you get an HVAC technician to come to your house. We have a lot of HVAC technicians, but we also have a lot of people who need their HVAC units worked on. Some of our HVAC technicians specialize in installing HVAC units. Some of our HVAC technicians do service calls where they need to inspect and repair HVAC units. Some of the HVAC technicians remodel and replace HVAC units, and some of the HVAC technicians do annual inspections on HVAC units. It is my job to find the right HVAC unit for the job and to schedule the time when the HVAC technician will come to your house. I also have to explain problems and costs, and I collect the payments for the HVAC work.
