I can become acclimated if I have proper heating

My job requires me to move all over the country. This means that my adult life has been spent uprooting my family. Neither they nor myself are fond of all of the moving around. We no sooner become a part of the community and I have to transfer again. It gets awfully tiresome and even a bit tiring for the entire family. Leaving a home and friends is never easy. My last transfer was a big promotion that had me overseeing an entire region. Most of us were not prepared to move to the northernmost section of the country. While I find this community to be genuinely kind and welcoming, my wife and kids hated the weather all the way to their core. I grew up moving around, but my wife was raised in the south. She compared the heat in the winter to lighting a candle in a dungeon. My only saving grace is the Heating and air conditioning system in our home. This will be the first full Winter so I decided to maybe get a bit more proactive when it comes to the Heating and A/C. Last Winter, I could never get it warm enough and the furnace was running nonstop. So, this year, I had a guy come out and seal every single gap, crevice or crack inside and outside of my home. I updated all the weather stripping around all the doors. The idea was to get the home as airtight as possible so the heated air would remain in the house. Not just will we have better heating, but I dislike overpaying for heating my home.
