Searching for a new home – with great AC

I’ve been on the market for a brand new home for a while now.

  • Honestly, the search is so exhausting that I don’t know if I’ll ever succeed with my venture.

I’ve been to overpriced houses, underpriced houses, houses with too many rooms, houses with only one large room, houses kept by hoarders, houses kept by bleach freaks… I’ve seen every form of a house that could possibly exist, I swear. That’s why it seemed like a terrible idea when my dad told me never to settle for a house with a subpar AC unit. He said that with the amount of heat and humidity we experience, it’s no wonder everyone pays so much for upgraded cooling systems. He recommended that I wisen up and avoid any home with an AC unit older than 4 years old. When he told me that, I did a spit take. An AC unit?!? You want me to worry about a replaceable part of the house now? I mean, I understand the logic. Why buy a home that you need to make additional repairs to? An HVAC upgrade would be quite expensive after all the closing costs and realtor fees. But still, how am I supposed to discriminate against poor quality cooling systems when there are so many other concerns to worry about? I’m taking his advice and everything; it’s not that I want to disobey my dad’s wishes. But I’m also checking out the prices of brand new AC systems and local HVAC repair shops that might be running good seasonal deals on cooling system installations.
