Original HVAC finally finds the end of the road

My family has had the same HVAC heating method for the entire time we have been in this house.

We built it nearly 25 years ago and the HVAC furnace has finally given out. This certainly did not catch us by surprise given how old the heating unit was. We were also seeing it begin to fail to meet heating demand on the coldest stretches of winter. It would have been nice to make it fully to spring before it died, but beggars can’t be choosers as my old man would say. At least it wasn’t right in the teeth of the winter. Regardless, we were ready and had already consulted an HVAC contractor to select the replacement furnace. The furnace had just been waiting to be installed. My wife and I just wanted to get one more winter out of our trusty heating companion. When the time came, all I had to do was make the call and the HVAC techs were out the very next day. It was actually very interesting to watch them remove the old furnace and put the new one in. The HVAC contractor had already checked out the ductwork. After a cleaning crew came through to clean and reseal all the duct joints, we were all set to go. Once the new furnace was installed and operational, I was very aware of the change. The air filled different, more warm and less forced. The result was so unexpected. I guess I didn’t even consider that the heating method change would make any discernible difference. While we sure are thankful for our old HVAC furnace lasting as long as it did, we sure love our new furnace.
