I would give excuses for the HVAC companies to explain why the HVAC companies forced the HVAC technicians to charge so much money. First of all, HVAC companies are just like any other business, and the only way for the HVAC companies to survive was to make a profit. Also, I used to get offended when they complained about the prices because it seemed to me that they were undervaluing the skill of the HVAC technician. HVAC technicians have a lot of training so that they can fix your HVAC unit, and that knowledge isn’t cheap. However, when I found out that HVAC technicians don’t actually make a lot of money, my perspective completely changed. HVAC companies may charge around $150 per hour in labor for your HVAC unit, and that is not including any of the work. At first, I thought that most of this money went to the HVAC technician. However, HVAC technicians actually make less money than the average worker in the United States. This means that the owner of the HVAC company is actually keeping most of the labor cost, which is something that I find outrageous. I only think that those prices are fair if the HVAC company gives the money to the people actually doing the work. Now, I am definitely convinced that HVAC companies are definitely overcharging.
