Without furnace running, dog won’t quit barking

I really love animals. I grew up with a zoo at my house, and I’ve never gone without pets of my own. That is, until my life got really crazy about a year ago. I lost my established residence and found myself in some financial hot water for several months. Since I didn’t know if my job was stable or I was going to move back home, I didn’t want to adopt any dogs or cats that I might be unable to care for. For a really long time, I put off adopting a new best friend and suffered the consequences of being very lonely and unfulfilled. Then, a few months ago I finally felt like my life was in order again. I went out right away and adopted an amazing dog from a local shelter. I was so happy to have a new friend again, and everything seemed to be going perfect during his transition from the shelter to my new house. We lived together without any issues… until it was not furnace season anymore. Throughout the winter, he was perfectly quiet and content sitting inside and basking in the warmth of the central heating system. Then, we started having some incrementally hot and cold temperatures outdoors which vastly affected the indoor air temperature and air quality. I started adjusting the indoor air temperature control program so that I was not utilizing my furnace when it was unnecessary. Around that time, my dog started having periods of uncontrollable upset. He would bark like crazy several times an hour. I couldn’t figure out what was going on with my new buddy, until I turned the air conditioning system on 24/7. Now that the AC is running all the time, he’s happy and quiet again. I guess that my dog either really appreciates having the HVAC system running, or my air handling devices effectively block out the upsetting sounds of the neighborhood.
