Enjoying the benefits of pilates class

This form of exercise stimulates the muscles, gets my heart pumping, promotes circulation and I always wind up wet with sweat

When I was hoping to get in better physical condition, I immediately joined a local gym. I soon realized that some type of a guided workout would be helpful for me. I was anxious to take some form of fitness class. I read the sign-up sheet at the gym and the only group class offered within the parameters of my schedule was pilates. The description explained that pilates concentrates on core strength while also working the body as an integrated whole. That sounded perfect to me. At the beginning of the first class, the instructor told us that pilates is full-body fitness, focusing on balanced muscle development, strength, flexibility and range of motion for the various joints. She was hoping to improve our physical and mental wellness. She planned to teach us how to breathe properly. I realized that there was a really wide range of ages in the class, from girls in their early twenties to elderly men. I appreciated the fact that the trainer was so adept at modifying the different exercises to meet individual levels. After taking a pilates class for a full year now, I’ve seen some major improvements in my body. I’ve developed strong, toned muscles without bulk. Due to the major emphasis on stretching the muscles and range of motion, I’ve significantly increased my flexibility. The core training has been great at targeting the muscles of my back, abdomen and pelvis. I’ve gotten rid of all of the aches and pains I used to deal with in my neck and joints. I have even noticed I have better posture. Not long after starting pilates, I had more energy throughout the day. This form of exercise stimulates the muscles, gets my heart pumping, promotes circulation and I always wind up wet with sweat. It makes me feel good about myself.
