Switching up our workouts for muscle confusion

Last week, some friends and I went on a white water rafting trip

I workout each morning for 60 minutes without fail. It can be a challenge to maintain the intensity level. Performing the same type of exercises every day can become sort of boring and stale. If I don’t keep myself motivated, our performance and the results diminish. I am afraid of gaining weight or losing strength and stamina because I’ve become lazy. To generate fresh interest, I need to switch things up as frequently as possible. One day each week, I try to go for an 8 mile run. The following day, I give my joints a break by pedaling the stationary bike. If the weather allows, I love to haul the kayak down to the lake and paddle for a workout. Since kayaking targets mainly arms, I’ll follow this up the next day by jumping rope , lunges and squats. I usually focus a whole day’s workout on weight lifting. Another day is centered around abs and overall core strength. Not only does the variation in styles of workouts keep me from getting complacent but it provides muscle confusion. Repeating the same motions again and again allows the muscles to get lazy and minimize effort. Activating new muscle groups each morning keeps everything fresh and ensures optimum benefit. I’m always delighted when I can introduce something new to the workout. I’ll sometimes head to the public pool and swim laps. I will go for a hike or spend a morning rock climbing. Last week, some friends and I went on a white water rafting trip. Next weekend, we’re scheduled to go zip-lining. All of these activities help to keep me strong, healthy and physically fit.
