I was impressed by the selection of space heaters.

The space heaters made me feel safer than the gas heater in the hallway

I grew up in a tropical area and when we moved eight hours north, although we were still in the deep south, it was a different climate. We rented a large two bedroom house that had a gas heater in the central hallway towards the back of the house and it was big enough to heat most of the house, except for the kitchen and dining room, and only if we left all the doors open. But we are a family that values privacy, so we ended up investing in some space heaters. We needed one for the dining room anyways. I was really surprised and impressed at the assortment of space heaters available. There are small box ones and medium sized ones and ones that take up most of a wall. There are ones that are barely noticeable, some designed to match decor, and others that look like huge fireplaces. There were so many sizes and designs that it was hard to decide. We chose one that looked like a wood burning stove for the dining room. We could turn it on the flame only, heat only, or both. It heated up the dining room, living room, and kitchen. The safety features on these space heaters were also interesting and made me feel safer. The tower ones we bought for the bedrooms turned off if they fell over. The space heaters made me feel safer than the gas heater in the hallway. We still used it, but not all that much and the tank of gas ended up lasting us over two years.
