Have you ever considered getting heated flooring? Did you even know that heated floors exist? We live down in the South and I really don’t give much thought at all to furnaces or Heating because we don’t really use them all that much.
Even so I have been thinking more about it lately because this winter has been unusually cold for an unusually long period Of time.When I have to use the furnace, oh, the heating costs are obviously more expensive than the cooling cost.
This is a good thing, obviously, since I used my air conditioning about three times more than I use my heater. Even so, I have been looking into ways to eat my house more efficiently. The air conditioning guy talked to me about heated flooring. He told me that the heated floors would not be intended to replace the furnace I already have. Instead, they would just give my heating system a little bit of a break by adding an extra source of heating that is more efficient and just makes more sense. Some of the advantages of heated flooring include: 1, they are whisper quiet. You absolutely cannot hear anything when your heated flooring is engaged. 2, they heat from the ground up which takes advantage of the natural tendency to rise. 3, They do not force Heating into your face like forced air heaters do. I really don’t like using the heater, oh, and I wait as long as possible before I switch the button on my thermostat from the cooling side to the heating side. The main reason I don’t like forced air heating is that it dries out my skin and makes my lips feel chapped and burns my eyes.
