A couple of years ago a good friend of mine came back from being out of town only to discover that her heating and cooling unit had broken down sometime while she was gone.
That is when I learned that a lot of heating and cooling companies have annual HVAC maintenance and repair contracts that you can get. It seems to me like having an annual HVAC tune up oh, so to speak, is a great idea. If the annual service agreement with the heating and cooling company offers that, I think I might go ahead and get it. My friend learned about it when her heating and cooling system had already broken down, and they offered it to her at that time. She went ahead and bought it, and as far as I know she continues with that contract every year. The annual HVAC contract allows you to get twice yearly maintenance on both your air conditioner and your heater. They tend to service the heater at the end of summer or beginning of fall so that it is ready when winter comes in. Similarly, they tend to service the air conditioner at the end of the winter or beginning of Spring so that when the harsh thermostat realities of Summer come rolling in, you will be ready.Addition to the included service call, the HVAC service agreement also entitles you to move to the front of the line if your air conditioner or furnace needs to get work done on it. This May not seem like a big deal, but one time I had to wait 3 days for the AC service technician to come. our city is fairly small and we only have a couple of HVAC companies to call on. There is often a wait. In addition to those two things, the service agreement also allows you to get a discount on the service calls when you do need HVAC repair.
