I tried and tried to find a great gift for my parents’ anniversary earlier this year, but I could never really think of a good thing that I wanted to get them.
- I ended up buying them a couple of gift cards for expensive dinners around town, but that was it.
My sister, on the other hand, ended up having a brilliant idea for a gift. I don’t know how she thought of this idea, but I have to admit that she really one upped me on this particular occasion. She decided to go and get our parents a new smart thermostat system for their house. They have been dealing with this really old thermostat for a long time. I don’t know that they have ever even put a new thermostat in since the time that they moved into their house almost 25 years ago. I think that it’s still the same one. Anyway, they really needed a new one and my sister somehow realized that it would be the perfect gift for them for their anniversary. It was something that they wanted but not something that they would ever really go out and purchase for themselves. So she went to the local HVAC company and ordered a new, state of the art smart thermostat system for them. She’s also paying to have it installed for them on their anniversary. I know that they are going to love it. I just can’t believe that I didn’t think of getting them that for their anniversary! I wish that it had been me.
