My favorite type of client to work with is usually someone who is in the trades. These people always know exactly what they are looking for, and I don’t have to do any guesswork to find them a house that they will love. For instance, a couple of weeks ago I was working with a family and the husband works as an HVAC technician. This guy was a real whiz when it comes to heating and cooling systems, and so he knew exactly what he was looking for in a home. He sat down and told me that he wanted to purchase a home with four bedrooms, a full basement, radiant heated flooring in the bathrooms and kitchen, and a wood burning fireplace. He also said that he wanted to get a place with a high efficiency air conditioning system because the summers can get really hot around here during July and August. I thought that I had just the right property for him and his family because I had just listed a four bedroom house in the area. The house had everything that he wanted, including a high efficiency central cooling system and radiant heated flooring in the kitchen and the two bathrooms. The only problem was that instead of a wood burning fireplace, this house had a gas log fireplace. He refused to even look at the place because he was holding out for a wood burning fireplace. Sometimes it’s hard to work as a realtor!
