While I rarely made stupid purchases when I lived paycheck to paycheck, I’m more susceptible nowadays since I’m not struggling financially any longer.
I would never consider myself “wealthy,” although I manage to pay my bills and put some money aside in savings as well.
As a result, it’s easier for myself and others to accidentally lapse in judgment and buy something I shouldn’t. On the a single hand, I’m smart about only getting modern clothing when I see various things on the clearance rack at my local superstore. However, I should be purchasing random pieces of artwork or gadgets that I’m never going to use. I purchased a UV-light tank for my cell iphone, and I think I’ve used it twice since I purchased it. Theoretically, it’s supposed to sanitize the iphone using UV light however I’m not so sure how effective it is. Another stupid mistake I made recently with splurge purchase was when I purchased a personal air cooler for my dining room. I believed the hype behind the machine, of having a straight-forward little table top air cooling unit for the cost of a mini drink fridge. However, the fan inside the personal air cooler is so weak that it doesn’t even function as an evaporative cooler love it is supposed to. The method is that you push air through a wet film or pad and cause the water to evaporate. The evaporation process lowers the temperature of the air moving through, causing a cooling effect. However, these small personal air coolers are so weak that they’re not even wonderful miniature swamp coolers in the first site.
