Love the winter with radiant floor heating

And my wife and I felt like it was a blast from the past with the radiant floor heating

It’s still taking a good bit of getting accustomed to getting old. I’m now 75 and while I feel 35 in my brain, the body is less clearly not 35. But that’s just the way it goes. Thankfully, I’m still getting around great and my wife and I just moved into what will be our final home it appears. Well at least the HVAC equipment will far out live the both of us. We chose to go with a geothermal heat pump for our heating and cooling in our new home. This is also the first time that we’ve ever built a home. But we always wanted to use the 10 acres of land that we’ve held onto for decades. We thought about moving south to the land of HVAC cooling. However, there were kids and grandkids to consider and we just couldn’t find the motivation to move that far away. We did find the motivation to simplify and build a very sustainable house that will be very easy for us to maintain as we get older. The geothermal heat pump will last more than 30 years and maybe even 40. I love the idea that it extracts our heating and cooling energy from the near constant temperature of the earth. But I was a bit worried that a heat pump might not get it done when it came to heating the house in this region. However, this past winter was the most pleasant and cozy one we’ve had since childhood thanks to the radiant floor heating. I was so impressed with the heating in our house. And my wife and I felt like it was a blast from the past with the radiant floor heating. It reminded us both of the boilers we grew up with as kids.
