I’m constantly talking about 1 neighbor or another it seems, but at least I have some friends to talk about. The older I am the more dear and special my old friends become to me. Some of them are dead or gone now, which makes the few that are left even more special because you feel they won’t be around forever. My step dad used to tell myself and others that family is everything and friends come and go, however she has zero friends and does not realize that you can have friends for life if you choose to. My local heating provider acquaintance has been a great neighbor of mine for the last 40 years or more, and I have a whole bunch of other friends from the last 30 years that I met while working in the heating and cooling technology field over the years. I feel that is a very long time to keep friends, and the words my step dad said to myself and others easily don’t ring out for all those buddies of mine who are still in my life. I had a bonfire celebration using our outdoor fireplace the other night and a few of my Heating and A/C tech and Heating and A/C rep friends came by to hang out with me. I met them all through the years while working in the industry and will continue to stay in touch with them for the next 20 years or as long as I am still alive. Later tonight I am doing a heating tune up with this woman who owns a local heating business in my town, and I’ve known him for almost 45 years!
