Smart thermostat impresses

Now that I see how impressive the smart thermostat is, I wonder what else I’ve been missing out on.

I tend to be a bit resistant to adding more technology to my life.

And that goes for the HVAC technology behind the smart thermostat. But in my defense, I’m just so sick of screens, alert and all the other distraction and cost that come with more technology. I’m convinced that we are leaning too much on technology anyway. But I guess that’s not really my problem to solve. Additionally, I simply gave up on my resistance to adding new HVAC technology to the house. My wife has wanted a smart thermostat for years. Every time she suggested it, I shot it down with some sort of excuse. Like, I didn’t want to buy a smart thermostat only to have the technology be obsolete in 6 months. Or another one I used over and over was that the smart thermostat was completely overrated. Well, I was completely and totally wrong on both counts. First of all, the HVAC technology evolution in the smart thermostat is both significant and amazing. On top of that, it’s been out on the market for maybe 10 years so they probably have the glitches figured out. And if the smart thermostat is anything, it is underrated. I could not believe how quickly the smart thermostat figured out our patterns and then began to adjust the thermostat setting accordingly. Not only was it so totally easy but it has saved on average about 20 percent over the best I could ever do when it came to managing the heating and cooling costs in our home.
