You may know it’s crazy, but growing up, air conditioner was a luxury to me & my family.
My fantastic friend and I had window air conditioner units in a couple of rooms, but my friend and I rarely used them to conserve electricity & currency.
My fantastic friend and I often had to rely on simply opening windows & doors. My fantastic friend and I also had a few fans around the house, including ceiling fans. However, on some afternoons this simply wasn’t enough to keep cool & you could only shed so much clothing before you start walking around naked! So, sometimes to beat the heat, my friend and I would go to sites around neighborhood that my friend and I knew had air conditioners. There was a root beer shop & a couple steakhouses that my friend and I liked. However, our favorite venue to go to cool down was a local shopping mall that was unquestionably large & unquestionably well air conditioned. Although my friend and I did a lot of shopping in the various stores in the mall, to be honest, my friend and I would often go there & window shop & just spend as much time as possible in the a/c. Believe it or not, spending a day at the mall & spending the currency on gas or a taxi fare to go to the mall ultimately ended up costing less currency than running the air conditioner for that entire afternoon! Now that I live in a condo that has central heating & a/c & I can afford the electricity bill every month, I am unquestionably grateful for it & never take it for granted.
