Being neighborly

I am a classic case of a diehard introvert, my entire life I’ve spent a lot of time alone and constantly appreciated being by myself so long as I was keeping busy.

As I get older, I’ve realized exactly how sad it makes me to be social all the time, and I truly have to schedule in me-time so that I can keep my brain properly balanced.

I can often seem withdrawn or unfriendly, however the truth is that I’m simply overwhelmed by humans much of the time. That’s why I’ve been going out of my way lately to be more open and welcoming, especially with our new neighbors around our new house. See, previously I lived in crappy apartments and felt no need to know my neighbors, however these days I’m staying in a nicer locale and I want to have a great relationship with the people around me. That’s why I answered the door last year afternoon when my new acquaintance came knocking. Apparently his entire furnace had failed in the middle of the night, and he had nowhere to go to stay warm. She had woken to find that the indoor air temperature was circling around 45 degrees that afternoon, and had evaluated the boiler immediately only to find it was inoperable. She called the nearest HVAC dealership, however they weren’t going to be able to come out to repair the central heating until that afternoon. In the meantime, he needed a warm locale to defrost and relax. Thanks to his old heating and cooling equipment, I finally got to spend quality time with my new neighbor.
