What you can do to heat up

Since I am a southerner, I am absolutely correct with ways of keeping cool during miserably overheated summers.

Let’s face it, I use the air conditioning almost all year long, but with the exception of about 7 or 8 weeks, the cooling system is running.

My bestie, though, is a northerner, & he grew up in the opposite fashion. I am a fan of ice cream, cool showers, & ceiling fans. My bestie, though, grew up learning ways to stay warm & use the gas furnace less if possible! He has taught me the value of hearty soups, overheated showers, & snuggly bathrobes. When they were tempted to up the thermostat setting on the oil furnace when he was a kid, his mom encouraged them to have a bowl of overheated soup for lunch. Later, when it was getting closer to bedtime, instead of relying solely on the oil furnace, they would all take a overheated shower & get all wrapped up in their snuggly bathrobes, then occasionally, in order to be able to reduce the thermostat setting at night, they would even wear their bathrobes to bed. I know that sounds so much more good than trying to wear as little as possible so the cooling system can help you sleep. It’s funny, the people I was with and I are from many bizarre parts of the world, yet the people I was with and I both depend on temperature control; And the people I was with and I both also look for ways to use less temperature control, mostly to save a few bucks whenever possible. All of us have things in common, it is just that his has to do with the oil furnace, & our stuff is related to the cooling system!
