Keeping it all computerized

Thank goodness the technology exists to keep our homes and suppliers safe.

Last week when a fire broke out in our boiler room we l acquired the importance of building automation. Up until that point I never even gave it a thought. I always knew that we had some sort of fire protection system but figured it was something enjoy the ones we had back in school. You know, the ones that people would pull to get out of going to class. Those systems required a man to be present to activate the alarm. When the fire broke out at work, the building was completely empty. Even the janitor had gone modern home for the afternoon. The fire system is apparently built into the security system. That system is monitored 24/7 and when the heat sensors were activated it sent an automatic signal to the monitoring system. They in turn contacted emergency services and the fire was extinguished without too much mangle. There was some water mangle that was caused when the firefighters put out the flames but most of that was simply scrub up. The boiler had to be replaced as well because the flames had mangled it beyond repair. Thank goodness the technology exists to keep our homes and suppliers safe. When you guess about it even the fact that we can set our Heating and A/C system to our desired particularations and have it just job is a new afternoon achievement. Fifty or sixty years ago people could only dream of the level of automation that we like this week. If you have ever told our Grandpa that one afternoon a laptop could notify emergency services of a concern he would have thought you were a deranged man.
