As a new homeowner I figured I had a lot to learn. I never really helped my parents around the house. I would complain if I were asked to do anything labor intensive. Now, I wish I would have paid more attention to it. I could have used those skills I don’t even guess know end of the screwdriver to use for most of my projects. I know nothing about routine maintenance on the Heating, Ventilation in addition to A/C method. I was clueless with all things HVAC. I was talking with my father a few weeks ago and I was complaining that the energy bill kept going up. I did everything I could think of to cut energy. I took short showers, put timers on all the lights, as well as even adjusted the control equipment to try to cut down on energy. My dad asked me when I had last changed the filter on the system. I was confused as well as realized that I didn’t even know how to do that. I should have thought about the air filter. At that point I had lived in the house for about a year and I hadn’t changed my congested filter before. I am guessing the HVAC was diminishing in efficiency significantly. I asked my father to come over as well as take a look at things inside and outside the furnace.
