Finally building our forever home with geothermal heating

While I have never been an adventurous person, but that is not the reason I have stayed put where I grew up.

I believe I simply appreciate where I live and I think I’m really lucky to have lived my entire life within a 40 mile radius. Of course, I have been on trips elsewhere. I still like the south with all the sun but I could never live there. My region is one of long winters with cozy heating during the cold seasons. The snow and the chilly winters are something that I could never absolutely do without. My husband is the same way and he IS from the South. We met when we were still in university. He came up here to go to university and I was able to drive to the school campus from my parents’ home. My husband fell in love with me and the whole area, along with the people and the culture around here. And then it was like the Southern fell right off of him. I couldn’t believe how suddenly he embraced all that goes with the northern winter. From the start, he was all over the winter preparations. The Heating is a gas furnace which is professionally taken care of by a really good licensed Heating and A/C tech. My husband enjoys watching and asking questions about how the Heating and A/C system works. In fact, we both have been doing quite a bit of research on Heating and A/C units these days. That’s because we’re in the early stages of planning our next home. Now that our kids are out of the cabin, we are downsizing. The next place that we are building will have geothermal Heating and A/C for heating and cooling. This Heating and A/C system is going to be more expensive at first, but I know that the utility savings will last us for the next 30 years. This will be our forever house.
