The fact that almost every mode of business that I enter in to is completely impersonal just bums me out no end.
There is no more going to the guy you know for a tune up and maybe and oil change.
All that is so complicated now that we just go to the dealer. I don’t even interact with anyone at the bank but maybe a handful of times throughout the year. Everything is done online. The lack of having someone you trust for a business relationship is a huge misfortune in my eyes. The only one I can think of is the HVAC company I do business with. Jeez, my own doctor doesn’t even spend more than 7 or 8 minutes with me when I see him. At least with the HVAC dealer, we go way back and have a mutual appreciation. When I moved to the area, nearly 30 years ago, I sought out a good HVAC person to upgrade the HVAC. That old HVAC on our home was just the worst. When I bought the home, I thought I could get at least a year or two out of the HVAC unit. I was so completely mistaken. So, I had to scramble to find someone I could trust. And, I did. Back then, my HVAC guy was just starting out. He was a one person company. But, he was so professional and passionate about HVAC. It was an easy choice. Indeed, it’s been an easy choice to maintain that business relationship all these years.
