The fact that almost every business I have to deal with is completely impersonal just bums me out no end.
There is no more going to that one guy you like for a tune up & maybe for an oil change.
All that is so complicated in cars now that we just go to the dealer. I don’t even interact with anyone at the bank but maybe a handful of times throughout the year now, either. Everything is done online. The lack of having someone you trust for a business relationship is a big misfortune. The only one I can think of is the Heating & A/C company I do business with. My own doctor doesn’t even spend more than 7 or 8 minutes at a time with me when I see him. At least with the Heating & A/C dealer, we go way back & we have a mutual appreciation for each other. When I moved to the area, nearly 25 years ago, I sought out a really good Heating & A/C man to upgrade the Heating & A/C in our house. That outdated Heating & A/C on our home was just the worst thing ever. When I bought the home, I thought I could get at least a year or two out of the Heating & A/C unit, but I was so completely mistaken. So, I had to scramble to find someone I could trust in our new town. And, I did. Back then, our Heating & A/C guy was just starting out and he was a one man corporation. But, he was so professional & passionate about Heating & A/C that it made it an easy choice. Indeed, it’s been a great choice for me to maintain that business relationship all these years.
