The electric bill is once again super high.
I can almost feel it sucking the money out of my trifold wallet.
The money that we spend on the HVAC system can be staggering. Just writing the check each month, even during the peak heating season, feels like I’m writing a huge tuition payment. Back when I was a kid, the Heating & A/C cooling was magical. Anyone who touched the thermostat at our house was engaging in some risky behavior. God forbid a single one of us boys left a door ajar during the summer season. My father would go off just like some kind of a mental patient. He would be agog if he could witness what is going on in this house. There is simply no regard for what it costs to cool and heat this house. My boys act as if their Heating & A/C is a right & something that should be customized just to them. Maybe he began speaking to me from the grave but, I have really changed my whole attitude on our Heating & A/C usage. The heating & cooling plan here is fairly new & it is super efficient. The Heating & A/C plan isn’t really the problem. So the problem actually begins with the people who are living in the home I am paying for. The new changes came swiftly. First, I spent a weekend with a caulk gun sealing up the whole entire inside & exterior of the home. There will be no more Heating & A/C treated air leaking outside ever again. Then I put in a smart thermostat unit. This one can’t be manually overridden by anyone but me. I also put automatic solar blinds up & I synced them to the smart thermostat. Finally, I am reviewing the security footage of our house and I’m going to fine anyone who leaves the door open.
