There aren’t a lot of things I hate much more than I do packing up a house and moving to a new city.
So, why did I choose a career where that happens at least once every five years? To bad I wasn’t passionate about something that could keep me in one spot for the rest of my career.
But, it goes with the territory so, I do the best I can with it. However, now that I have a young family, the process gets even more complicated. I used to have my stuff which I could get packed in less than a week. Now, there is exponentially more stuff to deal with. It isn’t fun going to work all day to come home to an HVAC controlled home only to pack it up each night and all weekend. At least my company gave me a few weeks lead time with this relocation. They are also pretty good about sending plenty of moving help. I don’t have to actually load and unload all the boxes, furnishings, etc. And, I’ll take whatever help I can get to be sure. I was pleasantly surprised when I called our HVAC dealer to remove us from the heating and cooling maintenance list. They actually offered to help me find a qualified HVAC company in the city we are moving to. This seems trivial perhaps but, it is really a good deal given all the details I have to go through to set up a new house. Not only that but, they refunded me part of my annual fee for the HVAC maintenance program I had signed up for. I’m praying the new HVAC people are as good as these folks.
