It is simply mind bending to wake up each day to this current normal. As our country & our planet struggles to overcome an invisible but deadly enemy, the structure of our lives also shifts. I remember when SARS happened because I was in an industry where I had to deal with travelers from all over on a yearly basis. I remember wondering if the Heating, Ventilation & A/C in the building I was in would help or hurt the situation. The physical plant manager tried to reassure myself and others by pointing out that there were high grade Heating, Ventilation & A/C filters throughout the space. These were helpful in creating indoor air pollen levels that would benefit our immune system. So, I focused on limiting our contact with people, making sure all the surfaces were cleaned throughout the day & making sure our hands were washed often. This got myself and others through just fine. However, this situation is much more intense given how incredibly contagious this virus is. Now, we are sealed up in our Heating, Ventilation & A/C apartment & I once again think about that Heating, Ventilation & A/C conversation I had all those years ago. My apartment also has high grade HEPA filters for the Heating, Ventilation & A/C. This does provide myself and others some feeling of security. But, I sure wish I had committed to installing a whole home whole-house air purifier. Those entirely kill the biological hazards in the air as they pass over high intensity ultraviolet light. Once this lockdown is over, I’m going for it. The Heating, Ventilation & A/C folks in our section are only doing emergency repair right now. But, when this lets up, I’m going with whole home whole-house air purifier to provide our immune systems the best opportunity at remaining healthy.
