Air conditioner making too much noise

While I am working from home, it is important that I have a work area that is free from distractions and excess noise.

While this is nearly never completely possible I try to keep my workspace as quiet as I possibly can.

Working from home is supposed to be temporary, but we will see. I think that I could get used to working in my pajamas. Sometimes, I will get a lot of calls during a work day while others, I will only get a few. I am diligent about answering my phone and will always return calls promptly. This week, I noticed something about talking on the phone in my workspace. The window unit air conditioner behind me is much louder than I thought it was. The phone picks up the sound of the window unit air conditioner and carries through with my voice. It is very distracting to those on the other line. I have started turning my window unit air conditioner off during the work day, but it has recently started to get very hot outside. With my window unit air conditioner set to a certain temperature each day, it is hard to get through the day without it kicking on. The noise is so distracting that I have decided to move my home office to another room in the house. My new home office has fewer windows and allows the air conditioner to turn on less throughout the day. I am happy with my new home office.
