She totally knew the A/C didn’t work

I recently got a home inspection on the current home I am planning to buy.

The home inspector informed me that not only is the central air conditioning system 17 years old, however it no longer works.

I wondered why the sellers actually wanted an as is contract. I have been going back and forth with the real estate agent. I want money towards a current central A/C unit. I refuse to buy an extravagant home and then immediately buy a current air conditioning system. The homeowner truly knew the air conditioning system was faulty. What especially irritates me is that when I toured the house, I asked the homeowner how his A/C was. I remember asking if it keeps the current home cold; She told me to my face that it does. I guess that was a bold face lie. The home inspector told me he couldn’t get the air conditioning system to even turn on, however central A/C also has a shelf life of maybe 10-12 years. The A/C has long lived past its life. I want the seller to at the truly least kick in a few bucks for my AC, but right now I am working with a Heating and A/C company. I want him to go in and find any little issue with the Heating and A/C equipment. I want to guess about air duct problems, heating concerns and control component problems… Anything he can find, I want it documented with a price quote. I am hopeful to at least get fifty percent of that bill paid for by the seller. I actually suppose he should give me 100% though. Who sells a current home in the south without working air conditioning system?
