Working out to music

Sometimes I need to get motivated to get various tasks accomplished.

This is also true when it comes to going to the gym and working out.

I visit this local gym at least three days per week. If the facilitating isn’t playing music that I enjoy, I have difficulty finding the energy to accomplish a strenuous workout. However, if they have upbeat, modern music playing, I am eager to get started and tend to enjoy a long and productive workout. I think that is pretty common for most people. It doesn’t matter if I head to the gym in the morning, afternoon or evening. It doesn’t seem to make much difference if I had a wonderful night’s sleep or a tough day at work. If there is good music blasting, I’m motivated to get my heart pumping and work up a sweat. I have made fitness a part of my daily routine since I was in high school. I have always played music while I workout. I have specific playlists that I use for strength training, stretching, warming up, cooling down and cardio. The cardio playlist is obviously much more upbeat. I don’t really like to wear headphones. They bother my ears and I tend to get pimples where the pads rest against my skin and trap the sweat. I’ve tried all different types of ear buds, but they usually fall out. I now have a cordless speaker that links to my phone. When I work out at home, I can blast music through the speaker. It’s wonderful. When I go to the gym, I can’t subject everyone to my choice of music.
