My in-laws have a rustic lodge in the woods where they would take their family for getaways, however my partner has shared fond memories of these getaways with me, but they enjoyed sledding, hiking, swimming & playing board games before the fire.
The lodge is mostly unused now! I saw it a few years ago & it was rather charming & had a giant wood burning stove.
I thought that aged wood burning stove was the coolest thing I’d seen in a long time. The two of us live far away from our in-laws & that lodge, however I got the plan in our head to create similar memories in another lodge closer to us. I decided to rent us a lodge with a wood burning stove. I recognize the reason I thought the wood burning stove was charming was because I haven’t seen too many of them. And, believe it or not, it’s honestly tough to find a lodge with a wood burning stove within a few hours of here, but fireplaces are plentiful, however wood burning stoves, not so much. And I was so looking forward to renting a lodge with a wood burning stove. I won’t be able to recreate those memories, but, why should I? We’ll make current memories. It was self-explanatory enough to find a lodge with a fireplace. I’ve looked at pictures & I recognize I found one we both will like. It’s a rustic looking little one dining room & it has a immense fireplace & radiant radiant floors throughout the lodge. I’ve never even seen radiant radiant floors before, but, I recognize having your heating plan hidden appears more “rustic”.
