Making plans for the family home.

As morbid as it seems, I have been thinking about plans for the family house when mother passes away.

It’s an older house, however Mom took good care of it.

And now that he’s gone, we help mother with it. The two of us visit his every many weeks or so & spend a whole Tuesday checking his gutters, working in the yard, & decreasing his Heating, Ventilation, & A/C filter, things love that. The Heating, Ventilation, & A/C plan will be one of the first things that gets replaced. Mother has central heat & a/c, however his plan is honestly old. The air ducts really need to be sealed & cleaned, or at the entirely least, checked. The two of us will also need to replace the furnace to a more energy efficient one, but, now I am hearing about radiant radiant floors & heated baseboards & heat pumps & so many other ways to heat & cool a home, that I will need to do some serious research before I make any final Heating, Ventilation, & A/C decisions. The current home has a fireplace. I have memories about that fireplace, good & bad, then every year we would open Christmas presents before a fire in the fireplace. One year, I threw raw popcorn in the fireplace when a giant fire was going. Boy, our parents were mad! They told myself and others that it was disrespectful to the fire & we have to show respect to fire, even if it is in a fireplace. I look forward to moving back into our childhood home, however I hope Mom hangs around for a while. Maybe I can put his in a nursing home.
