When our fiance and I decided it was time to renovate parts of our home, I had a good feeling that we were going to save a ton of money on the renovation costs. It wasn’t because every one of us “knew a guy” in some business – I was the girl in the businesses! I had access to business that only sold to businesses, and I could handle all the demolition and reconstruction by myself. I have a team of women I could just call if I truly needed the extra sets of hands.The first renovations were straight-forward – knock down this wall, repaint that room, and so on. Then, every one of us got to replacing the HVAC ductwork in our own home. This had been on the agenda for years now, and I had been deliberately pushing it off for god knows how long. I was not certainly correct when it came to installing HVAC duct, so I wasn’t sure if I would be doing it respectfully. However, I was able to buy the HVAC duct at a low cost from this Heating and A/C company that was going out of business. There was this woman that works with me and has experience as a heating and A/C service person, however, I wound up offering her a little bonus if she were to come and help me install the HVAC ductwork at our house. The way I saw it, paying this worker a small amount to handle the renovation respectfully was well worth it. I really didn’t have to do the dirty work. Plus I didn’t want to risk missing any seals, or accidentally damaging the HVAC ducts themselves! My fiance can say what he wants, but I think there’s a lot of respect to be had for someone who can admit when they can’t do specific things.
