I was making a huge mistake with my HVAC system.

I never thought about the best way to use my HVAC system.

I figured I set the programmable thermostat and let it go. I had the thermostat set to turn the thermostat up in the summer. At 7AM when I went to work, the temperature went up to eighty in the summer. When I got home at 5PM, the thermostat would turn the temperature down to seventy. I never thought I could be putting strain on the air conditioning unit. In the winter, I would have the programmable thermostat turn the temperature down to fifty, and the furnace world turn back up to seventy at 5PM. I always turned the temperature down low to get good air conditioning in my car, and then I would set it at seventy when I was cool enough. I thought my HVAC in the house would work the same way. Then one day I was talking to my HVAC technician. He told me that this kind of habit could be costing me a lot of money and doing damage to my furnace and air conditioning unit. I couldn’t wrap my mind around this thought. He said that you were forcing the furnace and air conditioning to quickly make a temperature change. He also suggested trying a smart thermostat instead of the regular programmable thermostat. When the temperature would slowly come up in the winter. The furnace would slowly warm up the house. In the summer, the air conditioning would slowly lower the temperature, saving energy and damage to my HVAC equipment. I bought a smart thermostat shortly after that.
