My apartment is over many thoUnited Statesnd square feet and extremely old. The people I was with and I have five kids so the majority of the rooms are occupied. However, such a big apartment is extravagant to heat and cool. The people I was with and I also weren’t glad with the number of vents in certain rooms. There were those that were impossible to keep comfortable. Some of the family rooms were always hot in the Summer and chilly in the winter. With a single thermostat located in the residing room, there wasn’t much we could do about it. If we raised or lowered the temperature setting, it affected the whole house. I looked into upgrading to zoned control but our heating and cooling system is too outdated to accommodate it. The people I was with and I would have needed to upgrade the entire system; Unwilling to go through a project involving such a huge expense, mess and disruption, I looked into alternatives. I eventually came up with the idea of a ductless system. A ductless mini split combines a single outdoor compressor with up to eight compact indoor air handlers. The installation process is completed in an day and there’s no need for any type of remodeling. All that is required is a multiple-inch hole in an exterior wall for the conduit, access to electricity and mounting capability for the air handlers. The air handlers mount up high and feature independent thermostats. The temperature in each room can be adjusted to the perfect comfort level. Plus, the new system is so elegantly energy efficient that I’ve observed a reduction in our daily energy costs.
