A degree in engineering for heating and cooling equipment: what does it entail?

I met a friend with whom I had gone to the same high school.

  • She was a sweet person and very intelligent.

We lost touch once we graduated from high school. We recently met at a mall and we decided to catch up over coffee. She told me that she had just graduated college and had mastered the engineering of heating and cooling equipment. This was the first I had heard of such a degree and so I got curious and asked for more details. She explained that she was more qualified than a cooling expert. She could create an entire smart HVAC from scratch. She could also perform the HVAC service plan and repair any damaged components. During summer, she had interned at a reputable home comfort business and she was looking forward to getting absorbed by the same company. We kept in touch and she actually did get the job, she was the a/c rep director. She was responsible for overseeing the operational duties of the cooling and heating company. It was quite an established air conditioning business that installed quality HVAC equipment such as the ductless mini split and the hybrid HVAC systems. She always seemed to witness something exciting in her job daily. Like this time the novice technicians had troubleshooting a commercial air conditioning system for five hours while it was the programmable thermostat that needed new batteries. They had obviously failed the test which was on servicing a quality air conditioner. They were resilient individuals that pushed on to become the best at their jobs. Some have even gone on to be trainers where they train new employees. I am super proud of my friend for being a boss in this industry that is saturated by men.
