My sibling Joanna flew in to surprise our kids and me over the summer.
She knew that after my divorce that I was having a difficult time after our last court date.
She really wanted to be there for us. When we talked on the phone last, Joanna was away attending some supplier conference way on the other side of the country. I really missed her but didn’t want to be too needy, either. I knew that she had heard the strain in my voice, and I was not surprised when she turned up at our front door after her trip. Behind her were packages that were full of toys for the kids, and so I asked her where all that stuff was going to fit as we embraced. The kids were so ecstatic with their gifts. They grabbed the fluffy teddy bears and ran to their room to play with them. Later on, we ate dinner and then we all went to bed. We had but later we had dinner and went to sleep because we had some plans for the next morning! At around 3 am, though, our youngest child came into our room because he was too hot. That seemed unusual since the A/C device was running on full blast As I helped him get cooled off, my other child came in feeling hot, too. So I let them sleep in our bed then made a mental note to check the air conditioning vents in their room the next morning. They slept peacefully since there was ample cool air blowing into our room. When we woke up late the next morning and got dressed, I went into their bedroom to see what the problem with the A/C was. It took some time for us to realize what they had done, though. The kids had arranged all their teddy bears in front of the air vents, which was blocking the cool air!
