For too long, I had been using window AC units for my cooling needs.
Some people think it’s something to laugh about, but I guess I never knew any better.
My energy bills were somewhat costly, but I would limit my use of the cooling machines. For the most part, I just wanted to have some good AC while relaxing for the evening and watching my television shows. When I would go to work in the office, the cooling system was good enough and I would have perfect comfort throughout my workdays. I’m probably the guy who worked the most overtime in the office too because I enjoyed the cooling at the office so much. Back home, it was always somewhat overheated and the air quality wasn’t especially good either. That’s why I would have to open the windows often to get a breeze moving through the house and that would usually improve the air quality. Eventually, a friend was asking me why in the world did I opt to use window AC units only? And in the winter I only used my fireplace but I had a lot of firewood stacked up and I was splitting wood all through the warm season to make sure I had enough for the winters. My buddies applauded me for being able to save on heating costs through the winter, but they still thought I could do better for my comfort. They eventually talked me into having a central HVAC installed in my home. It was expensive, but so worth it! I couldn’t believe what I was missing at home, it was more cozy than the office. The energy bills were cheaper too because the central HVAC systems these days are more efficient than the past, especially when compared to window cooling systems.
