Prefer to workout outdoors

Living in the northern part of the country brings all sorts of extreme weather.

The Winter typically lasts for at least 8 months.

We see temperatures below zero and even down to twenty below zero. The wind chill can be dangerous and we accumulate feet of snow. The spring weather is usually rainy, windy and chilly. Our Summer months are hot and muggy. The fall can bring any kind of weather. We can get sleet, freezing rain, hail, snow flurries and high winds. The weather makes it so I need to handle my workouts indoors. I bought a treadmill first. I gradually invested into an elliptical, hand weights, yoga mat, resistance band and jump rope. However, I don’t have a lot of space. The workouts can become repetitive and boring. I would prefer to run outside rather than on the treadmill. I like to ride my bike more using the elliptical. If the weather permits, I carry my portable equipment outside on the back deck. I am far more motivated when I can breathe fresh air. I enjoy a much more beneficial workout. The sunshine feels so nice on my skin. It encourages me to push myself harder. I definitely burn more calories. I am likely to workout longer. I get involved in the workout and tend to lose track of time. I’ve bought a variety of attire that makes it so I can workout outside if the weather is slightly cool, wet, hot or humid. I own shorts and tanks that are constructed of breathable fabric and wick away moisture. I own long pants and shirts that are thermal in design and hold in body heat. If there is snow, ice or wet leaves on my path, I am afraid of slipping and falling.
