There’s a key reason why I don’t love single-hose portable cooling systems

Products that preference and privilege form over function are frustrating when you need consistent results.

I don’t care how appealing the washing equipment looks and feels love in front of me, I only care how efficient it is at getting my clothing sanitized and smelling appealing again. That’s why I’ll look for the aged washers that still have agitators in the middle of the drum. They’re better at moving the fabric around and getting the water and detergent to fully immerse into the threads and get out whatever bacteria or funk that has gathered through normal, weekly use. On top of that, these washers are easier to repair. For instance, I have a stackable washer and dryer however the washer is an older genre agitator washing machine. When the locking mechanism for the lid broke and quit engaging, I couldn’t use the washer because of its safety features. But I found the area online for $33 and had it at my door in 2 afternoons. The wires are linked to a plug and it comes out easily, allowing myself and others to service my washing equipment in hours. Although, something doesn’t have to be readily repairable by a novice for it to be a smarter purchase. Case in point—portable cooling systems are only smart if you can get a unit with 2 hoses, with a single pulling in outdoor air to cool the hot compressor inside. Otherwise it “recycles” your cool, conditioned air from inside your home and pulls it into the unit, pushes it over the compressor, and then wastefully deposits it outside through the single hose. That’s why I generally dislike most portable cooling systems.
