Love a mild winter and a heat pump

She took a lateral move to get me out of that cold and that might have been the kindest thing she’ll ever have to do for me.

It was really interesting this morning as I woke up to the heat pump kicking on. In most homes across the country that would be a surprise. Most of the country has the heat pump or the gas furnace kicking on a lot through the day in order to deliver the heating they need. But not where I live. We’re leaning toward the end of January and this morning was maybe the fourth time I’ve heard the heat pump kick on. Once I heard the heating cycle on, I knew that it must be a frigid day indeed. So it being Sunday, I simply rolled over and went back to sleep. I have only experienced winters like they have up north for a brief period. It was right after my wife and I got married. She took a promotion up north and I followed. We were there for three winters and I was a miserable wreck of a human being. I’m surprised she stayed married to me because I whined so much about the cold. I hated being trapped inside all winter with the gas furnace wringing my wallet dry. She took a lateral move to get me out of that cold and that might have been the kindest thing she’ll ever have to do for me. For sure, I’ll never take our mild and wonderful winters for granted ever again. I’m more than happy to deal with a fierce summer than a brutally cold winter. Besides, I have my heat pump! And it gives me all the air conditioning that I need to get through the worst of the heat and humidity.
