My husband and I both had successful careers and we were ready to slow down a bit, but not officially retire.
We were ready to start a brand new chapter of our life together, and that included relocating.
We both like meeting people, so my husband and I thought that we would enjoy running a bed and breakfast. We wanted an old, charming building just outside of a large city, preferably in the south. We didn’t mind renovating. We found about ten places that caught our interest, and actually travelled to look at four of them, which was fun, and we finally found an old two story house outside a popular southern city. We were thrilled. It had twelve large bedrooms, ten bathrooms and a huge kitchen and dining room. But, it was in desperate need of a new HVAC system. The house still used steam radiators and had no air conditioning in most of it. A few rooms had window air conditioners, which we thought were tacky. So, we did a little research. We definitely needed zone controlled heating and cooling, but we had no ductwork. That’s when we discovered the ductless mini-split air conditioning and heating system. We have the living room, dining room, den and kitchen all on one mini-split system and separate ones for each bedroom. Considering the size of the house, the ductless mini-splits weren’t as expensive as they could have been and they were easy to install. The ductless mini-split air conditioning and heating systems are energy efficient and save us money in the long run. They were a good choice for us.
