I wanted to clean the air ducts and the heating and cooling vents in my house but I didn’t want to have to pay for a trained HVAC professional to come and do it for me.
- I wanted to try and do it myself, but I wasn’t exactly sure how to get started.
I looked it up online and most of the HVAC blogs that I came across said that you should definitely not try to do it yourself. Of course, I just took that to mean that they really just wanted me to spend money on hiring a professional HVAC team to come and do the air duct cleaning for me. I didn’t really think that it was actually because I wasn’t able to do it myself. In other words, I thought the whole thing was probably just a money racket so the HVAC technicians could just make more money off of poor people like me who don’t know what they’re doing when it comes to their heating and cooling systems. Well, I thought I was just going to get the better of these sneaky HVAC blogs and the HVAC technicians who were just out to get more of my money. I decided that I was going to go ahead and try to clean the air ducts myself anyway, even against their advice. I dragged out the shop vacuum and the ladder and extension cords and I got to work. I did pretty well until I tried to clean the air vents upstairs. That’s when I tripped on the extension cord while I was going up the ladder.
